I Heart Unicorn Crafts – This Ain’t Yo Mama’s Shrinky Dinks!
Faheema Chaudhury’s ohso cute Unicorn Crafts makes me want to say I Heart You (just like the necklace above). Love, love, love her stuff! I remember doing shrinky dinks as a kid. I was horrible at drawing and when my “dog” picture shrank, it looked like a turd. I remember I had to tell my mother what I drew because she couldn’t figure out what the hell it was just by looking at it.
Faheema has made shrinky dinks cool, all while preserving its undeniable cuteness. She designs the pieces in photoshop and illustrator, then prints them onto special paper. After meticulously cutting out the pieces, they are baked and made into earrings, pins, and barrettes. Once baked, they are then coated with a layer of gloss resin for added protection.
Of course, I need to also feature these adorable paper airplane earrings because it reminds me of Craft in the City’s flying airplane. Win.
