Norka Luque, The Latina Music Sensation

Norka Martinez Luque was born in Caracas, Venezuela on February 7, 1986. By the age of eight, her parents realized that Norka had an amazing talent, and began her training in piano, vocal, and dance lessons. After graduating high school, Luque went to college, where she pursued a Business Administration degree in France. She received degrees in the Culinary Arts, Fashion, and Marketing.

After college, Norka Luque joined a band called Bad Moon Rising, to familiarize herself with those involved in the European music community. The band played on weekends in French dance clubs, and quickly gained popularity, mostly because of Norka’s striking vocals.

With her population and love for singing increasing, Norka knew that in order to have any chance of making it big in the music industry, she’d have to move to the United States. She wound up settling in Miami, and soon after landed a gig in a nightclub on South Beach. She took the Miami music scene by storm, quickly gaining a following. Club-goers packed in every night to hear Norka Luque sing.

After four years of working the club circuit, with her popularity steadily rising, Norka finally got the break she was looking for. In 2008, she formed a working relationship with Emilio Estefan, Jr., who signed on as Luque’s producer to help shape and develop her musical career.

Estefan gathered such talents as Hermanos Gaitán, Archie Pena, and Luigi Giraldo to work with Ms. Luque on her recordings. In 2011, Norka released her first single “Como lo Haces Tu”. The single quickly became a huge hit within all of the major Latino communities around the world, and she was nominated for Best Female Pop Artist in the Premios Lo Nuestro Awards.

Norka’s second single; “Milagro” was also widely acclaimed, and consistently held spots on the Latino Music Billboards.

In October of 2012, Norka was featured on the cover of Latino Show magazine. When asked about her blossoming career, Ms. Luque responded, “This is an opportunity that many talented artists dream of having. I feel so blessed that Emilio (Estefan) liked my musical project, working with him is a miracle, a school of life; and everyday I learn something new.”

In 2014, Norka’s career was sidelined, as serious personal health issues arose. Luque suffered from epilepsy, a condition of the central nervous system. Her condition became so bad it required her to undergo brain surgery at the beginning of 2015. Recovery for Norka was slow and all-encompassing. However, Luque is now fully healed, and ready to resume her amazing musical journey. Her most recent single, “Tomorrowland”, (available on all music apps) is a very fitting song title for a singer whose tomorrows seem endless.
