Venezuela Officials Meet in Attempt to Discuss Venezuelan Economy

Venezuela’s government has restarted their efforts to end the political standoff. Venezuela’s economy has been in a deep recession for some time now, and political leaders are looking for solutions to improve the economy.
Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, Delcy Rodriguez, tweeted on Twitter that the government and opposition politicians held their first meetings to discuss the economically-distressed country. The Union of South America and other regional leaders had meetings with the opposition party. The goal was to ensure peace and well-being of the country.

According to a state-run television network named Telesur, Venezuela’s leaders of its Socialist Party and opposition leadership met in the Dominican Republic. Also involved in the meetings were former presidents of Venezuela, Spain, and Panama. The ultimate goal of the meetings according to analyst Jose Manuel Gonzalez is to end the political crisis that is taking place in Venezuela.

The opposition leadership Manuel Gonzalez has accused the Venezuelan government of trying to block various initiatives that have to do with stalling its recall efforts to avoid early elections.
