Michael Zomber: Making & Preserving History

Michael R. Zomber has been a historian and an avid collector of antique arms and armor for over four decades. Zomber has worked as a guest historian on the History Channel’s Tales of the Gun, is an internationally recognized authority on Japanese samurai swords and is a prolific storyteller with works including screenplays, the historic novels Sweet Betsy That’s Me A Child of the Civil War, Shogun Iemitsu and Jesus and the Samurai. Also to his credit is a critically acclaimed documentary film, Soul of the Samurai. With this extensive cache of works, he has established himself as an authority of excellence in his field.

As his website makes evident, Michael Zomber is a husband, father, cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois with degrees in Psychology and English and the recipient of a Masters in English Literature from UCLA. As one peruses the many accomplishments of this dedicated and gifted individual, it may seem strange to add to his life’s timeline a false accusation that lead to a conviction and imprisonment. Yet, true to his work ethic and character, Zomber used his time away from the people and work he loves in reflective, creative and constructive ways. While enduring this injustice, he tutored other prisoners in preparation for their GED exams, wrote legal documents for those incapable of doing so for themselves, wrote novels and nonfiction books. His wrongful conviction was reversed by the U.S.

Third Circuit Court of Appeals in 2008, and his case was remanded to a new trial. The Appellate Court, appalled by the injustice he suffered, reversed the verdict and he was once again a free man. Regardless of his personal challenges, Facebook indicates Zomber continues to be a proponent of peace, and a man keen to see that history is told with authenticity. His own life, a triumphant example of a warrior’s soul in action, is as noteworthy as the lives he tells of and the characters he creates. It will be fascinating to learn of the history and stories he has yet to share.  Find all of Michael’s books on Amazon.
