So-Cute-You-Want-to-Die “Grow Old with You” Terrarium

June 7th, 2013 | No Comments » | by kristel

grow old with you terrarium

The killing-you-with-cuteness item for today is this Grow Old with You Terrarium from Uncommon Goods.  Admittedly, I did not have my glasses on when I first saw this item and it took me a minute before I realized the squee-worthiness of this conversation piece.  From the miniature world virtuosos Michelle Inciarrano and Katy Maslow comes this simply adorable moss-filled microcosm populated by a Lilliputian, gray-haired couple snuggling contently on a park bench.  So if you’re feeling particularly romantic or you just like figurines of really little people, this would make a cool item for your living room or work space.

Stone Beverage Dispenser – Let’s Face It, It’s For Alcohol

June 6th, 2013 | No Comments » | by kristel

beverage dispenser

Here’s another great Father’s Day gift idea: This awesome stone beverage dispenser.  It’s handmade in New Hampshire and will hold a standard bottle of liquid (hehe alcohol) with a nice study grip and no leaks. The drink is poured through the stainless steel spigot and let’s face it, this is a great addition to your home bar.  No two beverage dispensers are the same because the rocks chosen are found from the New England coast. Measures approximately 7″  at the widest point and 7″ tall.  Happy drinking!

An Adorably Modern Take on Shrinky Dinks from Unicorn Crafts

Unicorn Crafts

I thought I’d kick off my Patchwork Show entries with one of my all-time favorites:  the lovely Unicorn Crafts!  Let me say this–if you ever have the pleasure of meeting owner Faheema Chadhury at one of the local craft fairs, take a moment to chat with her. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and her infectiously fun spirit is definitely reflected in her awesome shrinky dink creations.

When I was a kid, I remember making shrinky dink Christmas ornaments. My parents were obligated to hang up my sad excuse for an ornament on their tree, but I feel like they would always put it on a branch out of view. Now, if my ornaments looked anything remotely like Unicorn Crafts’ adorable creations, I’m sure our tree would have looked awesome. Giving the 1970’s shrinky dink a modern spin, Chaudhury takes her own adorable illustrations and then prints them onto a special material, meticulously cuts out the designs, and then bakes them (yes, she’s hardcore).  She creates a wide array of jewelry–rings, earrings, necklaces, keychains, pins, brooches, etc. Everything she designs will make you say, “awwwwww!”

Below are a few of my favorite creations from Unicorn Crafts! Click on the links to head directly to her store.
